Counselling

Counselling can help to clarify the issues, explore the difficulties and help with making decisions to move the process on, gaining deeper knowledge and understanding of self. I work with individuals in face to face counselling and telephone counselling. We may work with Person Centred Therapy, looking at the Here and Now, combined with CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), focus on thoughts, behaviour and feelings, to create new ways to cope and manage everyday life. However, in life some people will suffer a loss or trauma which needs to reach deeper levels of understanding.

Some issues, some beliefs are harder to change, accept and moving forwards can be difficult. This can be reached through our work together, developing a therapeutic relationship, to uncover a greater understanding, receiving support, providing a safe and protected space where you have the time to think and process feelings with the help of a skilled counsellor. People who have been struggling with a problem or who are experiencing emotional pain and distress find that counselling can be helpful in many ways. I feel passionately about helping you to make sense of what is happening in the here and now, we can often make links with what happens in our life outside of the counselling room, how the past can influence your adult life can be a very powerful tool. These insights provide an understanding and the chance for change. It may, at times, be painful and scary to look into the past, though the rewards can be empowering and it is quite common for people when entering counselling to experience life getting worse, once understanding begins before it gets better. Whilst counselling is generally recognised as beneficial to most, it may not be so in every case.

People from anywhere, facing a variety of problems can seek professional help at some time in their life. One of the rewards for me is to see an individual begin to explore and gaining the knowledge to a deeper understanding of self, finding the complete self and are not striving for perfection. Counselling can be the start of finding you, bringing out the joy and creative self.
